Friends In Town — Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Rogue Scholar Studio, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Friends In Town mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

Note: This document reflects how the App actually works but is not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified attorney before publishing.

1. Who we are

Friends In Town is operated by Rogue Scholar Studio, LLC. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@friendsintownapp.com. For users in the EEA and UK, Rogue Scholar Studio, LLC is the data controller of your personal data.

2. Age requirement

The App is intended for users 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a person under 17 has provided us data, contact support@friendsintownapp.com and we will delete it.

3. What we collect

Information you provide:

Collected automatically:

We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.

4. How we use your information

Our GDPR legal bases: performance of a contract, consent, legitimate interests, and legal obligation where applicable.

5. How sharing and visibility work

Friends In Town is built around opt-in visibility. Your cities and trips are shown only within circles you join, and only per the controls you set. You can turn your global broadcast on/off, hide from a circle, hide from specific people, set a mutual blackout, cloak a trip from everyone or from specific people, and block users (which makes you and them invisible to each other everywhere). When you join a circle by invitation, sharing is off by default until you choose to share.

6. Service providers we share data with

We use public city data from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), which contains no personal information about you. We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.

7. International data transfers

We are based in the United States; our providers may process data in the U.S. and other countries. For transfers out of the EEA/UK we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and associated content (owned circles, trips, memberships, visibility settings, blocks, reports, device tokens), except limited records we must retain for legal reasons. Backups are purged on a rolling basis.

9. Your rights

Everyone: Delete your account anytime in the App under You → Delete my account.

EEA / UK (GDPR): rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, data portability, and withdraw consent; and to complain to your data protection authority.

California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to know, delete, correct, and non-discrimination. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined under California law.

To exercise rights, use the in-app deletion tool or email support@friendsintownapp.com.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and will notify you and authorities of a breach where required.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice in the App.
